KINGSVILLE, Tx - By virtue of their 66-62 win over Eastern New Mexico Thursday night, the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team clinched a spot in the 2013 Lone Star Conference Tournament at the Allen Event Center in Allen March 7-9.
With three regular-season games remaining, the Javelinas will continue take each game one at a time and improve as a unit. The Javelinas face West Texas on Saturday before hosting Angelo State in the final home game next Wednesday at 8 p.m. They finish the regular season on Saturday, March 2 at Abilene Christian.
"We are thrilled to be headed back to Allen for the LSC Tournament," said Javelina head coach Pete Peterson. "The road win at Eastern New Mexico gave us a shot of confidence at just the right time.
"(Even with the spot in the tournament) We aren't going to change anything we have done to this point. We are seriously taking each game as they come and looking ahead to the tournament and who we might play. We aren't going to relax any just because we have qualified. We are going to continue working so we can improve each time out."
Tickets and additional information for the tournament in Allen can be found by calling the Javelina ticket office, by clicking the tournament logo on the front page of www.javelinaathletics.com, or by going to the Lone Star Conference website at www.lonestarconference.org.
