Javelina LB Jeremy Aguilar Named All-American

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville senior linebacker Jeremy Aguilar (Los Angeles, Calif.) has been named to the prestigious American Football Coaches Association Division II All-America team it was announced on Monday by AFCA.

Aguilar, who was a first-team All-Lone Star selection and one of two LSC players named to the AFCA list, finished the regular season with a team-best 88 tackles in 10 games. He finished with 48 solo tackles and had a team-best 12.5 tackles for a loss. He had double-digit stops three times with 14 against Midwestern State, 12 at Valdosta State and 10 at Tarleton. He forced three fumbles and intercepted a pair of passes. In the Javelinas' trip to the Kanza Bowl, Aguilar finished his career with a team-best nine tackles with a sack. He had 4-1/2 tackles for a loss in the game to lead all players.


The senior linebacker is the 30th Javelina to be selected to the AFCA All-America team. Kingsville holds the record for the most selections all time. Thirty players have been named an astounding 34 times to the All-America team. Pittsburg State is the next closest school which has had 16 players honored 19 times.

Offensive lineman Manase Foketi of West Texas A&M was the only other player from the Lone Star Conference named to the team.
