FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team opened action at the Lone Star Conference Championship at The Golf Club at Champions Circle with a first round score of 344.
Brandy Rivera led the Javelinas with an opening round 9-over 81. She is tied for 12th after 17 holes. Twin sister Ashley Rivera was second for the Hoggies with an 85 to finish 24th, while freshman Analysa Coy had an 86 to finish 28th. Ashley Coy was the team's fourth scorer with a 92.
Led by Taylor Klutts, who was second as an individual with a 73, Midwestern State led after round one at 311. West Texas A&M was second at 318 led by Glory Jangthongsiri who was the top individual after with an even-par 72. Tarleton State was third at 319. Angelo State (327) was fourth, while Cameron and Texas A&M-Commerce were tied for fifth two shots back at 329. Incarnate Word was seventh just seven shots ahead of the Javelinas with a 337.
The final round is Tuesday.
