Janine Reyes joins 6 News Sunrise from the Rio Grande Valley.
She is a Texas native happy to call the Coastal Bend home. Janine began her career in El Paso, Texas at KTSM. Her passion for telling stories later led her to WHNT in Huntsville, Alabama where she covered a wide range of stories from a deadly school bus crash that made national headlines, to riding a zero gravity flight that trains astronauts to go weightless in space!
Her Texas roots soon brought her back to the Lone Star State and she quickly made the Rio Grande Valley her home. She rode out Hurricane Dolly on South Padre Island on July 23, 2008. South Padre Island took a direct hit from the Category two storm. For days some in the Valley had no power and plenty of flooding to deal with. She worked continuously covering their stories.
Janine's passion for telling your stories is what makes each and every day exciting and new, so feel free to contact her at jreyes@kristv.com with story ideas.
She is a proud graduate of New Mexico State University and enjoys spending her off time with her son, Ayden.
If you see her around, be sure to say "hi" and wake up with Janine, Dave Froehlich, and Matt Terhune every weekday at 5 am.
