Janine Reyes joined 6 News Sunrise in 2010.
She loves waking you up with news you need to know to start your day. She also hits the streets, reporting on issues important to you. During her time at 6 News, she's covered everything from severe weather and flooding, to uncovering questionable charities and busting a local unlicensed massage therapist for selling gift certificates he never honored.
Janine is a Texas native happy to call the Coastal Bend home. She began her career in El Paso, Texas at KTSM. Her passion for telling stories later led her to WHNT in Huntsville, Alabama where she covered a wide range of stories from a deadly school bus crash that made national headlines, to riding a zero gravity flight that trains astronauts to go weightless in space!
Her Texas roots brought her back to the Lone Star State and she made the Rio Grande Valley her home. She rode out Hurricane Dolly on South Padre Island on July 23, 2008. South Padre Island took a direct hit from the Category two storm. For days some in the Valley had no power and plenty of flooding to deal with. She worked continuously covering their stories.
Janine's passion for telling your stories is what makes each and every day exciting and new, so feel free to contact her at email@example.com with story ideas or struggles you're facing.
Janine is a proud graduate of New Mexico State University and enjoys spending her off time running the bayfront, or finding adventure with her son, Ayden.
If you see her around, be sure to say "hi" and wake up with Janine, Dave Froehlich, and Juan Acuña every weekday at 5 am.
