J.A. Garcia Elementary School Dedication Ceremony

CORPUS CHRISTI - After opening its doors back in January, the J.A. Garcia Elementary School will hold a a dedication ceremony honoring the former Corpus Christi School Board member.

Garcia Elementary was actually built on the former Prescott Elementary grounds. The new elementary combines the two former elementary schools Prescott and Garcia into this new state of the art learning facility.

The school now features standard and specialized classrooms, including an art, computer, and science labs. Voters approved the new, $14.3-million school in a 2008 bond issue. The school is named after doctor J.A. Garcia, a general practitioner, and former CCISD school board member. Dr. Garcia also played a crucial role in the establishment of Del Mar College

While parents may be interested in all the new updated classrooms and learning materials what the kids really love about the new school, is the brand new 5,4000 square foot play pavilion, which is about half the size of an Olympic pool.

The dedication ceremony begins Wednesday night at 6:30.
