ISRAEL - Israel's operation pillar of defense over the Gaza Strip continues today. There are more deaths on both sides of the border and Israel's military is warning that they have not yet ruled out a possible ground campaign in the Palestinian enclave.
NBC's John Ray is in the Gaza Strip and filed this report:
This is part funeral procession, part mass show of defiance. Militarily Hamas may be no match for Israel's warplanes but it says that the death of its top commander Aha Jab will and must be avenged.
Overnight Palestinian rockets have continued to fall in Israel, one hitting an apartment block killing three Israelis.
"The blood of our leader will be the fuel of our resistance. Israel is wrong if they think that this will be the end of Hamas," Hamas official Fawzi Barhoum said.
Since we've been in Gaza this morning we have seen and heard the thump and thick black smoke of Israeli airstrikes.
"No government would tolerate this situation, where nearly a fifth of its people live under a constant barrage of rockets and missile fire, and Israel will not tolerate this situation," Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Palestinians tell us that so far 13 people have been killed here including two children.
Israel is warning Hamas that it will continue to step up its military action unless the Palestinians stop firing their rockets.
