CORPUS CHRISTI - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer team will play a total of nine home games at the Dr. Jack A. Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium as part of the team's inaugural 2013 schedule. In addition to the season opener against Houston, the team will host the Islanders Classic and six Southland Conference matches.
After opening the season against Houston on Aug. 23, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will play host to the Islanders Classic on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1. Texas Southern will take on Campbell at 2 p.m. in the opening game on Friday afternoon, with the hosts facing Dallas Baptist at 4:30 p.m. in the second match of the day. On Sunday the 1st, the Islanders will take on Campbell at 11 a.m. in their final game of the event.
The Islanders then hit the road for three straight contests - at UTSA on Sept. 6 and at the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational on Sept. 13 and 15. In the Invitational, hosted by UNC Wilmington, the Islanders will face the host Seahawks on 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, followed by a Sunday afternoon contest against Elon at noon.
A&M-Corpus Christi will play host to its first Southland Conference contest on Sept. 20 against Southeastern Louisiana at 4 p.m. The team will follow that up with a Sunday afternoon contest at 1 p.m. against Nicholls on Sept. 22.
After road contests at Central Arkansas (Sept. 27) and Oral Roberts (Sept. 29), the Islanders return home for a matchup with McNeese State on Friday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi takes on Incarnate Word the following Friday, Oct. 11, also at 3:30.
Before their final home stand, the Islanders embark on a four-game road trip, taking on Lamar (Oct. 13), Abilene Christian (Oct. 18), Sam Houston State (Oct. 25) and Houston Baptist (Oct. 27). The final home games of the season will come against Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 1, 3:30 p.m.) and Northwestern State (Nov. 3, 1 p.m.) at Dugan Stadium. The Southland Conference Tournament will be held Nov. 7-10 in Lake Charles, La., with the top six teams qualifying for the postseason.
