CORPUS CHRISTI - The Islander women's cross country team has been the big dogs in the Southland Conference for the last two years, winning back-to-back conference titles and Saturday afternoon they were looking for lucky number 3.
The ladies were closing in on being a dynasty in the running ranks, and this one would be close and came down to the wire.
Anne Ronoh led the way for the Isles and claimed individual gold, as would the team, while freshman Breanna Briggs finished up in tenth.
But the big story was the ladies' three-peat. It's official: they're a dynasty.
Ronoh told KRIS 6 Sports, "That was a great thing, coming back again to be the conference champion for the third time in a row, its really exciting."
Briggs added, "I definitely think we came in with a good confident attitude and we are proud of everyone today everyone ran really well, so we are really happy."
