CORPUS CHRISTI - On Friday the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Baseball Team officially opened practice with a ton of new faces.
" Its great to get back out here we got a lot of new guys who have to step up for us so its great to get it all pieced together as we get to the start of the season," said Pitcher Trevor Foss.
All in all the Islanders lost 19-lettermen from a team that finished 2012 with a record of 24-33.
"There are a lot of hard workers everyone is gonna play their hearts out so it's exciting to get it started," said Pitcher Adam Hoelscher.
Head Coach Scott Malone's squad did advance to the 2012 Southland Conference tournament, where they knocked off top seeded Sam Houston State to open things, but then dropped their final two games.
"Today is the easiest day of the year they are spinning like tops and you gotta slow em down usually you come to practice as a coach like what is my motivation but these guys are ready to go, so today is easy, we have great senior leadership and three quarters of my roster has been in town already getting ready," said Head Coach Scott Malone
The Islanders will open the season on February 15th at home with a 4-game series against Texas-Pan American.
