CORPUS CHRISTI - On Wednesday afternoon police tracked down and impounded a black Jeep Wrangler Rubicon believed to be involved in a hit and run crash with a motorcyclist.

On Monday morning, police say a Jeep took a right turn in front of a motorcyclist at the intersection of Texan Trail and Staples Street.

The motorcycle slammed into the side of the Jeep. The impact broke the rider's leg.

The Jeep towed to the impound lot yesterday has significant damage on the passenger side along with a shredded right rear tire.

Police say parts found at the original crash scene lead them to the suspect's vehicle. However, police first said the vehicle involved in the crash was red - the suspect Jeep is obviously black.

Investigators have not revealed where they found the Jeep, the identity of the driver or who owns the vehicle.

Police say that since the person behind the wheel of the Jeep at the time of the crash fled the scene he or she could face a charge of felony accident involving personal injury or death. A conviction is punishable by up to ten years in prison.
