CORPUS CHRISTI - A man accused of raping his mother hanged himself in the Nueces County Jail Sunday night.
Jail authorities say guards found 45-year-old Samuel Salazar in his cell a little before seven Sunday night with a mattress pad around his neck.
Authorities say Salazar was considered a high risk inmate and had attempted to hang himself before, but Friday a doctor cleared him and he was taken off suicide watch.
The jail says guards checked on Salazar every thirty minutes Sunday, an inmate alerted them when Salazar killed himself.
Parrish Alleman will have more on this story at 5 and 6.

Sick stupid ****, he should have had one finger cut off little by little till the scum died of agonizing pain. Ohwell, he saved us tax payers alot of money. Smartest things he's probably ever done in his life is hanging himself, kudos to him. I wish more idiots would do the same and save us money

This is truly a sad and tragic story. What more proof do we, as a society, need to prove that we are living in perilous times.

What Samuel Salazar did was cruel, and Yes he was going to be punished and Yes he was a coward to take the easy way out. But no one has the right to judge his afterlife. People remember: "HE WHO HAS NO SIN, CAST THE FIRST STONE"
We should never rush to judge others until we take a long look at our own life.
