CORPUS CHRISTI - A Nueces County inmate makes a run for it, but he's now facing more charges for what authorities say he did during the short period of time he was free.
According to the sheriff's department, the work crew trustee ran off from a detail at the National Guard Armory on Horne. Deputies and police coordinated to block off a nearby neighborhood during the search.
A little over half an hour after his escape someone reported seeing a guy climbing out the window of a home on Morales.
Deputies say he broke into the home to get a change of clothes. He lead officers on a chase that ended on Islla Drive
Gilbert Rojas is now facing charges for escape and home burglary. He was just in the news the other day for allegedly slapping his girlfriend, then running from police who tracked him with the help of an ankle monitor. Rojas was wearing the device as part of his release on bond for pending drug charges.
