CORPUS CHRISTI - A skate shop in Ingleside has been hit several times by burglars. Police believe they may be in search of illegal substances inside.

Ingleside police say the Half Pipe Skate and Stuff shop has been burglarized twice in the past six weeks and police think they know why.

It was just last week when the front door was busted open, an alarm went off, and police say they were called.

"They smashed it in like that. Probably with a golf club or a crow bar or something," said Ben, an employee at Half Pipe.

Investigators say $500 to $1,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the shop.

But when we asked Ben what had been stolen he told us, "I don't know anything."

Claiming he didn't know what was stolen or why. But police who investigated the crime say they know exactly what was stolen.

"We did recover some packets of synthetic marijuana," said Lt. Robert Luna Jr with Ingleside PD.

People at the business next door didn't want to talk on camera, but they told me they weren't surprised when they saw the shop got broken into again.

I also spoke to people living across the street from the business. They were home when the last break in occurred. Leonel Vasquez told me his wife and mother were in there back yard when it happened...

"Once they heard the noise they peaked over the fence and wanted to check it out," said Vasquez.

He tells me they saw about five people run out of the shop with a bag in hand. He says most people in the neighborhood have suspicions of what goes on in the shop. Residents we spoke to say they try and keep their distance.

Meanwhile police are still looking for the people who broke into the shop. If you know anything about this burglary, call the Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 361-758-TIPS or www.tipssubmit.com.
