INGLESIDE - The San Patricio County Sheriff's Office says a drug bust went awry today when William Joseph Clark took of in his car, leading officers on a dangerous chase.
It started at the Ingleside Dairy Queen before noon when undercover narcotics officers went to meet with the suspect. Once surrounded, the suspect rammed into a patrol unit and headed down Avenue A where he hit a pickup.
The chase lead down Highway 361 to Gregory before the Clark turned around. Investigators say the suspect tried to ram Gregory PD cars as he headed towards Higway 35.
The chase headed the wrong way down the highway into Aransas Pass at around 100 mph. Officers were able to arrest Clark when he crashed his BMW in front of a business in Aransas Pass.
There were no serious injuries in the chase.
Sheriff Leroy Moody says the 20-year-old will be given a mental evaluation before any charges are filed.
Clark has a prior record in San Patricio County. Back in March he was arrested in a series of raids involving where 8 people were arrested for allegedly dealing cocaine.
