CORPUS CHRISTI - The IceRays have teamed up with a pair of local businesses on a new contest, where one go-getter can win $10,000.
They're all looking for "the intern". All Temps Personnel Services and El Grado Tequila are in with the Rays on a venture based on the reality tv-show, "The Apprentice." They'll pick 12 contestants to compete during the season, and eliminate one every three weeks based on the results of various tasks. Former Rays player and Director of Business Development Dave Gilmore is the man who came up with the idea.
"Let's say there's going to be teams of six and six. They maybe come up with a community event and track it. We can judge it on the attendance of the people that come out or the enjoyment people are having. We also have some punishments we were thinking about, too. Maybe, helping our trainer out doing laundry for the team that loses," Gilmore said.
Registration begins Friday and continues through the 16th. People can call the IceRays office at 814-PUCK or All Temps at 808-8367.
