CORPUS CHRISTI - Fire crews spent the morning battling a very large fire in the Calallen area. The fire broke out sometime after six this morning in the 5200 block of Northwest Trail in one house, but quickly spread to another.
A hospital spokesperson tells us Karen Starrs, the owner of the first home that caught fire, is being transported to Brooke Army Medical Center to be treated for burns. Her husband, Ken Starrs, is being treated locally for smoke inhalation.
All four people inside the second home got out safely.
There's still now word on what started the fire. It took crews about an hour to put down the flames. Downed power lines at the homes made for a difficult battle.
