CORPUS CHRISTI - Several people turned out for a walk this afternoon at Cole Park to raise awareness for those with intellectual disabilities. The Behavioral Health Center of Nueces County for Disability Awareness hosted the walk. About 200 people wearing green walked along the bay in support of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities Awareness.
Adreana Rios, a walk coordinator said, "Get it out there in the community that people with IDD are the same as anybody else. They have jobs, they live on their own, they have kids, they go to school, they work. They are the same."
Organizers say they plan to make the walk an annual event.
