CORPUS CHRISTI - Several hundred women attended what's billed as the biggest fashion event in South Texas.
The 4th annual Coastal Bend Fashion Showcase was held Sunday at the American Bank Center. Models hit the runway, wearing some of the latest trends from local boutiques. Several vendors were also on hand with everything from shoes to high-end clothing.
"The idea behind this...is to promote the local fashion scene," explains Tony Martinez, the event's organizer. "Not just the brand retailers that everybody's familiar with, but all the local boutiques that people may not be familiar with."
"We've got a lot of small shop designers that have great stuff...[and] this is their chance to get a little exposure."
A highlight of the event was the runway finale, which featured breast cancer survivors from around the Coastal Bend. This year's show benefited breast cancer research.
