Hundreds Roll Up Their Sleeves to Give Blood

CORPUS CHRISTI- The Coastal Blood Center held their "Rock n' Roll Up Your Sleeve" winter blood drive Saturday as part of national blood donor month.

Hundreds came out to donate inside one of three mobile units that were set up in front of Cavenders on Everhart by SPID.

Donors are needed year round, but especially at the beginning of the year because there's usually a shortage after the holidays.

For some people that are scared to donate for whatever reason, Leticia Mondragon, Donor Recruiter, says its nowhere as bad as it seems: "A lot of people tell me they're scared of the needle, or they're scared to donate blood, but then a lot of times, I'll convince them to donate and they're like, that wasn't bad at all.
When can I donate blood. you can give blood every eight weeks".

They hope to collect 200 units of blood during the drive.

If you missed it, remember, you can donate anytime, contact the Coastal Bend Blood Center for more information.
