CORPUS CHRISTI - A human skull found in a drainage ditch by a city crew will be sent off to an anthropologist for further study.
The skull was found Monday afternoon in a drainage ditch near Violet Road and Highway 44. A search of the area revealed no further remains.
The Nueces County Sheriff's Department believes the skull may have been in Oso Creek and was washed downstream by last week's heavy rains.
The Medical Examiner's office says there are no signs of trauma on the skull that does not appear to have been in the area for very long.
