Human Ashes Wash Up on Bay Park

CORPUS CHRISTI-- This is something you don't see everyday.

Police made a strange discovery Saturday afternoon in Oleander Park.

Two small black boxes, full of cremated human remains, washed ashore.

A jogger in the park called police when they spotted the boxes, opened them and knew what it was.

The ashes were secured in plastic bags within the boxes. Officers say a burial ceremony occurred Friday out in the bay, they think someone threw the entire box, both of them, into the bay instead of the more traditional method of spreading the ashes and keeping some in the box.

The medical examiner was called to pick up the boxes, they believe they know who it belongs to, but haven't contacted the family yet.
