The Mustangs want to play fast, especially on offense. Coach Eddie Hesseltine returns nine starters on that side of the ball, including quarterback Bronze Jackson. In the backfield, Jackson is joined by a trio of talented running backs (Kevin Dawson, Dominique Lane and Tristian Price).
"Definitely having nine returning starters on offense is something that we haven't had here," Coach Hesseltine said. "It's not real typical for a 5A school to have, but we're glad to have ‘em."
Jackson is a dual-threat QB, and the southpaw says he can get it done with his legs or his arm.
"We're expecting to play fast, be physical, wear teams down and that's what we hope to do," the senior QB said.
The Mustangs are coming off a 5-6 season that ended in the first round of the playoffs.
"it gives us more confidence because last year we didn't have that much experience and we did pretty well," Price said. "We think we can do better this year."
King will be looking to punch a ticket to the postseason for the fourth consecutive season, and the excitement was evident on the first day.
"I'm just glad to be back, I missed it, the offseason is too long, can never get enough football," defensive lineman Johnathan Reynolds said.
