HS Football Preview: Kingsville Brahmas

KINGSVILLE - The Brahmas made the playoffs last year at the 4A level, they'll be looking to do the same in class 3A this season. Kingsville returns 14 starters from last year's squad that finished 5-6. Quarterback John Houston will once again lead the offense. Houston racked up over 2,500 yards through the air and on the ground last year, and is poised to do it again this coming season. Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football magazine has the Brahmas senior QB picked as the preseason offensive MVP for District 31-3A.
"Now we are the team with the target on their backs, predicted to win district for the first time since the 90's so we have to work hard to live up to that," Houston said.
It's a different story for the Brahmas, who are picked to finish atop the district.
"It's a confidence booster because it lets us know we are being looked at and people think we are doing better," Kingsville linebacker Nick Trevino said.
"It's more motivation," guard Richie Salinas said. "I don't like letting people down."
