CORPUS CHRISTI - Friday was the first official day of UIL sanctioned baseball practices, and teams wasted no time getting on the field and putting in work. Moody, who is ranked 6th in state in the Class 4A preseason rankings made the most of their first day together on the diamond.
The Trojans went four rounds deep last season, and return arguably the most talent in the Coastal Bend, plus they have added Texas commit Michael Cantu.
"We have a lot of starters back and if we all come out and do what we do and take it one game at a time nothing should stop us," said Outfielder JD Lozano.
As for motivation, the team did down play the rankings, while at the same admitting they are eager to prove to everyone just how good they can be.
"We feel like we should have been ranked higher, but in the end rankings don't matter it's where you end up at the end that determines who you are so rankings don't matter to us," said Pitcher Kenny Saenz.
"We would rather be the lower ranked team and come out chasing the ones on top," said Infielder Ricky Gonzalez.
