REFUGIO - For the smaller schools winning district comes with a perk, you get an extra week to rest and prepare for the postseason while everyone goes through the Bi-District Round. But for (5)Refugio, that wait seems like an eternity as the Bobcats are poised to get their 2013 run underway and right the wrong that was last season
In 2012 the Cats lost just one game, but it was the first one that truly counted as George West shocked them in a one-game affair winning 6-5 ending Refugio's season in their very first playoff game.
"Going back from last year and then one and done with a 22-0 record the one and done hurt us all so we are coming out with a chip on our shoulder to win a series so that's what we have on mind," said Pitcher Travis Quintanilla.
This season Refugio is 23-2, but more aware of needing to be prepared for anyone and everyone.
"We don't want the same thing to happen this year like last year we wanna do something big and go on," added Outfielder Tyler Castellano.
As it stands right now, the players are just playing the waiting game, as they'll face the winner of Banquete and Santa Rosa in the Area Round.
"We have to be prepared we can't take anyone lightly and we gotta keep working really really hard," said Infielder Cameron Sternadel.
