HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police say a gunman has been shot and killed in a four-hour standoff that began with an argument about a dog.
Police on Sunday afternoon received a 911 call about an armed man who thought his dog was taken by a neighbor. Police say the suspect barricaded himself in a home and fired several shots inside the residence.
Investigators say the suspect fired into a police armored car, then pointed a laser-sighted gun at one officer. A second officer shot and killed the gunman to end the siege.
The name of the suspect hasn't been released. Police recovered several guns from his home.
Both officers have been placed on paid leave pending a review of the incident.
Houston police did not immediately provide additional details on the dog.
