HOUSTON (AP) - The University of Houston has chosen former NFL defensive backs coach David Gibbs as defensive coordinator.
Cougars coach Tony Levine on Tuesday announced the hiring of Gibbs, who replaces Jamie Bryant. Bryant left following a 5-7 season in which the UH defense struggled, allowing 483 yards per game.
Gibbs spent a combined nine seasons in the NFL with Denver, Kansas City and Houston. His last collegiate coaching job was in 2005 as defensive coordinator at Auburn.
