CORPUS CHRISTI - Temperatures not as cool for the start of Thursday and the further into the afternoon we get, the hotter temperatures will get. We will look for mostly sunny skies and temperatures skyrocketing well into the low to mid 90's. Some inland locations will surpass the mid 90's and head to the upper 90's with sunny skies as well. Winds will be the main weather factor today as they will stay sustained around 15-30 miles per hour through the afternoon with isolated gusts as high as 35+. Plan accordingly if you have outdoor activities planned. Heat index values should reach the triple digits for a couple of hours this afternoon as well so drink plenty of water and stay hydrated if you will be outdoors.
Also for boaters and mariners, a small craft advisory is in effect from 9am-7pm today with seas running 3-4 feet and bays slightly choppy to rough under the 15-25 knot winds.
Tonight, a few clouds will stick around, but still looking for mostly clear skies and an overnight low in the mid to lower 70's. The winds will relax slightly out of the southeast around 5-10 miles per hour as well.
A Canadian cold front is still expected sweep the Coastal Bend late Saturday night into early Sunday morning and bring a very isolated chance of some showers with noticeably cooler temperatures and more cloud cover. At this point, it does not look like there is much rainfall associated with the front, but there could be a few days where light showers could be observed until the first half of the work week.
Have a great Thursday!
