FLOUR BLUFF - The Hornets can't help but think about two years ago when they bounced Gregory-Portland from the State Baseball Playoffs, it's something Flour Bluff is hoping to repeat this year.
The two will open their best of three series on Friday and wrap it up on Saturday.
"Right now game 1 is the most important game of our season and we'll probably win that game and hopefully keep fighting and win both," said Pitcher Will Mendiola.
This is a baseball team who has been in postseason mode for the last 3 weeks, having to win their final five games just to go dancing, and then fighting tooth and nail to get past Mission Vets on Saturday.
""We came in thinking number one team and we did business Thursday night and got it done then we thought they would lay down, but they didn't, so we came out and fought and realized anyone can win at anytime so you gotta come with momentum that you are here to win and it's a job," said Pitcher Kolton Mims.
"Whenever we are up or down we are together as a team, we don't single anybody out for bad or for good we just take everything as a team effort and we are gonna continue to be a good team and continue playing as long as we can," said Infielder Rivers Ewing.
"Nobody wants to lose and for a lot of our seniors it's our last year playing baseball and we just want to continue to play," said Outfielder Garrett Foster.
