CORPUS CHRISTI - Homicide detectives are still at a home in the 400 block of Military Drive in Flour Bluff where two people were found dead this morning.

A man working in the neighborhood says he first ran to the home when he noticed flames coming out of a window. John Warnecke says he first banged in the front door, then kicked in the back door only to be overcome by smoke. Warnecke then grabbed a garden hose to try and take care of the flames.

Firefighters called out to the home heard what sounded like gunfire as they came up to the home. So did Warnecke. But police are not saying if that was actual gunfire or ammunition cooking off in the fire. Crews were able to get the fire out in a matter of minutes.

We're told the bodies were found in different parts of the home. Fire officials said Thursday afternoon that evidence points to the fire being intentionally set.

Police confirmed one of the victims has gunshot wounds. So far nothing has been ruled out in the case. The medical examiner has deferred to police when it comes to identifying the victims and their causes of death.

Neighbors tell us 81-year-old Charles Delong III and 49-year-old Cheryl Harville shared the home, but there's no word on their relation. Neighbors told police there is a third person who lives in the home who was not there when police and firefighters arrived.

This afternoon detectives were seen taking an inventory of firearms from the home. From what we could see they removed several pistols, a shotgun and at least one rifle.

The cars outside the home have license plates for a disabled veteran. Neighbors say Delong is a veteran and a recent amputee.

A spokesman for the Corpus Christi Police Department say it's unlikely any additional information will be released about the case until tomorrow morning at the earliest.
