Homeowners Use Knife to Chase Burglar Out

CORPUS CHRISTI - A suspected burglar is facing a long list of charges after he's caught with the goods still in his hands.

Police were called to a home on Prescott this morning when a homeowner there spotted a guy stealing a lawnmower.

Officers were almost at the scene when they spotted a man pushing a lawnmower down the street.

The suspect, 51-year-old Roland Escobar, ran toward 18th Street where police say he broke into a house.

The people inside grabbed a kitchen knife and chased him out. Escobar tried to hid behind another house on 18th Street but police tracked him down.

They took him back to the home where the lawnmower was stolen, but the people there couldn't identify him.

Right now officers believe he had an accomplice in the theft.
