Homeowner Questioned About Shooting in Country Club Neighborhood

CORPUS CHRISTI - Detectives questioned the owner of a home on Greenbriar Drive today about the shooting of a man who may have tried to break into his home. We're told the home is owned by Dan Caballero, the owner of Fox Nursery and Fox Home Builders.

Around 10:30 this morning, neighbors called police when they heard gunfire at the home in the Corpus Christi Country Club neighborhood.

Officers followed a blood trail from the home that headed toward the golf course. There they found a man in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Several hours later he's still undergoing emergency surgery at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

What's clear is that a man was shot, but what's unclear is what he was doing and how Caballero may have responded.

Police want to know if the shooting victim was breaking into the house.

Police have not confirmed whether Caballero shot the man or not, but they did tell us they found a weapon in the house and that shots were fired from that weapon.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information to please contact Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS, or submit a tip online at www.888tips.com.
