CORPUS CHRISTI - A K-9 unit helped police track down a man accused of stabbing a homeless man at least eight times. The stabbing happened behind a Mexican restaurant near Leopard and McCampbell.
Officers say the homeless man was sleeping but woke up to the suspect stabbing him. Police say the victim walked to a nearby gentleman's club and people there called police. The suspect left with his bicycle but couldn't hide from the police dog. Officers say the man faces aggravated assault charges. As for the victim, police say his injuries weren't too serious.
"He had multiple stab wounds all throughout the body but it didn't seem to be too deep and he was walking around talking and it didn't appear to be life threatening," said Lieutenant Phillip Bentliff.
