CORPUS CHRISTI - A mother of three, who ran over a man last year and fled the scene, is heading to prison.
A Nueces County jury sentenced Tabatha Elliott to 15 years in prison for Manslaughter, ten years for Failure to Render Aid, and ten years for Tampering with Evidence. She has also been ordered to pay a $30,000 fine.
Elliott will serve her sentences concurrently. She will have to serve at least 7-1/2 years before she is eligible for parole.
On Tuesday, Elliott pleaded guilty to charges of Failure to Render Aid. Yesterday, she was found guilty of manslaughter and tampering with evidence in the death of 39-year old Gilbert Reyna.
Reyna was walking with his bike along I-37 last year, with his brother, when he was hit and killed.
Reyna's mother, Beatrice Reyna, tells us she feels the 15 year sentence is fair.
Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial that Elliot used a bleach mixture to clean her car after the crash and had the windshield replaced soon afterwards.
