CORPUS CHRISTI - It's been a while but former Texas A&I star Shawn Hernandez is back in the Coastal Bend, trading the football field for the wrestling ring.
"Corpus Christi fans get ready because TNA wrestling is coming to your town tomorrow live straight on Spike TV, we have Hulk Hogan live in the house, Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy myself the "Super Mex and the lovely knockouts, please if you haven't seen it before this is the best thing you will see live please don't miss it," shouted Hernandez in our break room.
Hernandez, who is known by wrestling fans as "Super Mex" will join the likes of Hulk Hogan and TNA Impact Wrestling at the American Bank Center on Thursday Night.
Javelina fans should remember him best as the man who was recruited to fill the shoes of now NFL Hall of Fame Defensive Lineman John Randle.
"He graduated went off to the pro ranks and yours truly had the poorest chance to fill the biggest shoes at Texas A&I and be his replacement I mean it went from 20 to 30 sacks to 5 or 6," said Hernandez.
Hernandez played in Kingsville from 1990-1992, earning all-conference honors.
