CORPUS CHRISTI - Holiday cheer swept the downtown area as folks flocked to this year's Harbor Lights Festival. And I couldn't help but dive into the crowds head first and get some of that Christmas spirit.
I found tons of people who had come here for one, main reason.
"They're going to turn on all the lights."
"We came to see the lights."
"We wanted to come watch the lighting."
But Santa had yet to arrive, and no one else but him could flip the switch on the massive, 75 foot tree, decked with nearly 5000 lights.
So folks enjoyed the food, the music and though it was warm enough outside to wear shorts, everyone I met told me they felt as though the Holidays had finally arrived.
"Everybody is decorating with lights, they're getting the Christmas spirit, to be with their families. So it kind of helps with the weather," said Hannah Sowell.
And then, after waiting patiently, the crowd got their first glimpse of the big guy in red.
And the countdown began to the moment we all had been waiting for.
5...4...3...2...1!
And Christmas in the Coastal Bend had finally begun.
