WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas (AP) - Police in North Texas are still searching for a theft suspect who managed to roll down the window of a squad car and drive off - all while handcuffed.
Police arrested 41-year-old Darren Porter on Friday during an alleged theft in White Settlement, north of Fort Worth. They placed Porter into the back of a squad car.
The window switches in the back of the car are supposed to be disabled, but not in this one. Police say Porter was able to roll down the window of one door, reach out and open the door. Dash cam video from another car shows him climbing into the driver's seat and taking off.
He remained at large Monday.
Police say they're checking other squad cars to make sure the windows don't open.
