CORPUS CHRISTI - All athletic and extracurricular activities at Haas Middle School were canceled for the week as word spread that a student bitten by ants last week died overnight at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
There was a moment of silence this morning for Cameron Espinosa. Medics rushed him to the hospital on Thursday night after he was bitten on the legs and stomach in the middle of a halftime huddle on the school's athletic fields.
Espinosa's mother confirmed this morning that her son had died. Counselors are on hand at the school to assist students and staff.
