Gonzalez Charged with Kidnapping of Alice Girl During Auto Theft

Arrest Made in Alice Kidnapping Case - KZTV

ALICE - Alice police arrested the man they say stole a car with a toddler inside last Tuesday. Authorities picked up 24 year old Mark Gonzalez today at a home on Schley Avenue around 12:14pm.

He's charged with kidnapping and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. In a video posted by the Alice Echo News Journal, Gonzalez claims police have the wrong guy. He told the reporter, "I would never do anything like that.. it was my friend."

Last week, 3 year old Alina Salinas' mother was dropping off her son and left Alina asleep in the car when Gonzalez allegedly jumped in the car and took off.

Alina was missing for about an hour when police found her safe in her car seat a half mile from where she was taken.
