Gonzales and Dall Inked With Javelinas Until 2016

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville Head Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Coach Ryan Dall and Head Baseball Coach Jason Gonzales have both signed multi-year contracts. The contract extensions will keep the championship winning coaches at Kingsville through May 2016.

"Jason and Ryan are both completing their 6th seasons, and together they enjoy a long list of Coach of the Year, NCAA post-season, conference champion, all region, and national champion honors," stated Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation D. Scott Gines. "The programs they lead are among the best in the Lone Star Conference, our Region, and within NCAA II nationally."

Over his six years at Kingsville, Coach Dall has developed a long list of National Champions, All-Americans and All-Conference athletes. He recently coached the men's track and field team to their first LSC Outdoor Track & Field Championship since 1970. The team scored 175 points to win the meet by 22-points and won eight individual titles as well a relay crown. He has also helped Tim Price achieve overall honors this season as he was awarded the Cap Shelton Award for outstanding male track athlete of the year. The Javelinas are ranked fourth in the national team rankings. Jeron Robinson, Jordan Yamoah and Price are each ranked No. 1 in their respective events and six other athletes are ranked in the top ten of their events. Dall is the 2014 LSC Men's Outdoor Track-Field Coach of the Year and USTFCCCA DII South Central Region Coach of the Year. The men's and women's track team will be competing in NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Meet in Allendale, Mich. from May 22nd - 24th.

Coach Gonzales has been equally successfully during his tenure in Javelina Land. He has built a program that consistently contends for Lone Star Conference titles, averaging 40 wins over the past two seasons. In 2014, he produced 11 all-conference players, 7 first-team, 3 second-team and 1 honorable mention. Gonzales has also helped two players achieve overall honors this season as Denver Diefenbach was named LSC Academic Player of the Year and Derrick Walls, LSC Player of the Year. He led the Javelinas to the 2014 LSC Regular Season Championship and the 2013 LSC Tournament Championship, advancing to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Baseball Tournament title game each year. Gonzales is the 2014 LSC Coach of the Year.

"They accomplished what we asked them to do in grassroots ways - recruit South Texas, be great teacher-coaches, craft a vision for success, work your plan, and build it to last," said Gines of their accomplishments.
