ARANSAS PASS - Residents in Aransas Pass can now apply for a license that allows them to drive golf carts on city streets.

City officials passed the ordinance in June that requires all carts and drivers to be licensed by the city. Owners will also need to provide insurance for the carts.

All vehicles must be equipped with headlights, mirrors and brake lights. The $50 license is good for only one year.

Under state law, golf carts are not allowed on highways due to safety concerns.
