CORPUS CHRISTI -- A woman who was featured in commercials for her family business is remembering her time with Walter Furley.
The local television icon passed a Wednesday at his home after a battle with cancer. After retiring from the anchor desk at KZTV where he sat for 45 years, Furley went on to do commercials for the Hearing Aid Company of South Texas and more recently Gold Buyers of Texas.
He appeared in spots with Danielle Joyal whose family owns the business. She told us Furley started out as a customer when her father got the idea to feature him in their commercials.
She told us it was often difficult to keep a straight face while filming with Furley. "He has such a character about him. It's definitely never going to be forgotten. There were so many times my dad wanted to take outtakes and just make a commercial out of that," Joyal told Action 10.
She says her family will continue to run the commercials in memory of Furley.
