CORPUS CHRISTI -- An 11-year-old girl is safe after she was abducted while riding her bike Thursday evening.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Braesvalley and High Meadow near Everhart and Saratoga. Police tells us the girl was riding her bike when a red SUV pulled up beside her. A man got out of the passenger side and he grabbed the girl and dragged her back into the SUV.
Witnesses say the heard the girl screaming, but didn't see anything. Police say it was driving with is lights off. About an hour later, the girl was found at Sea Pines Drive and Park Road 22 on Padre Island. She appeared to be unharmed, but she was taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital to be checked out.
Police were out in force searching Padre Island using several descriptions of a possible vehicle. We overheard officers discussing either a red van or Suburban, mid 1990's model, with a faded hood and wood paneling.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 20's. A woman may have been driving the vehicle.
