George West Mourns Death of Mother, 3 Kids in Fiery Crash

LIVE OAK COUNTY - A fatal car accident Sunday morning claimed the life of Joannie Lopez,22, and her three young children Andrew Lopez Jr. ,3, Alanzo, 2, Christopher,1. Only the father Andrew Lopez, 24, survived. The accident happened just 10 miles north of the town George West on highway 59 around 7 a.m. Sunday.

According to DPS Troopers, driver fatigue may be to blame for the accident. They say Joannie was driving when the family's Suburban veered off the road into a tree. The large vehicle burst into flames upon impact.

The mother and children were unable to escape. The father got out with internal injuries and a few broken bones. At this point Andrew Lopez's condition is unknown.
