CORPUS CHRISTI -- An innocent little boy -- who drowned near Bob Hall Pier -- was laid to rest today.

6-year-old Taylor Syring died last Friday.

Officers arrested his step-mother in connection with his death.

Laura Day is charged with endangering a child.

Investigators say Day allowed little Taylor to take off his life jacket in the water.

They said when she later found him, he was face down.

Instead of calling 911, detectives say Day drove Taylor to the hospital herself where he was pronounced dead.

Today, hundreds of people said goodbye to the little boy at his funeral services.

His said her little boy loved the Lord.

He was full of life, the light of his mom's world.

Kelly Syring said, "I didn't know how many lives Taylor touched until he passed and he definitely touched a lot of lives."

So many people wanted to say goodbye to little Taylor today, the funeral service couldn't be held at his small community church.

Instead, the pastor of the Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship allowed the family to come there.

Pastor Kenneth Mutchler of Immanuel Fellowship said, "And we just loved him, always called him buddy. He was my little buddy and so I'm just so thankful for the time I did get to know him."

Things were done different for Taylor's funeral.

The casket was colored with markers and stickers.

His mom said, "This would be Taylor. The stickers and the drawing on the casket would be Taylor."

And many people wore superhero t-shirts.

Batman was the most popular because he was Taylor's favorite.

His mom said, "He liked super heroes so it wouldn't be appropriate to wear all black to Taylor's funeral and I didn't want to wear something black I wanted to wear something light because that was him."
