Fundraiser Held To Support Murder Victim's Family

PORT ARANSAS -- The community showed up for a bar-b-q fundraiser to support Maria Deleon's family today.
She was murdered this past week in Ingleside.
The turnout was great at Big Daddy's Bar-B-Q in Aransas Pass.
For $7 folks could by a plate.
They sold around 400 plates this afternoon.
The money raised will help the family pay for funeral expenses.
Family members say they're humbled to see all the people who support them after this tragedy.
Crespin Cortez, Maria's brother-in-law, said, "It's great. I mean the thing about it is we never know how many people actually know you until something like this happens. So, it's great to see that everybody comes together in a crisis like this."
