CORPUS CHRISTI - The community is rallying around a navy veteran struggling to make ends meet after being diagnosed with Stage 4 lung and colon cancer.
On Sunday, a fundraiser was held in Tom McKenna's honor. Raffle items were auctioned off to help the Vet pair for home repairs.
Code Enforcement recently received a complaint from a neighbor about his crumbling roof.
"He doesn't have the money. He can't afford to pay for that. He's got his living expenses he has health expenses," says daughter-in-law, Hazel McKenna.
McKenna's family says despite the financial trouble and the 10 percent survival rate,he's a fighter. He is using his family to motivate him during this tough time.
