SINTON - Kristene Chapa started her new therapy and rehabilitation program in Houston last month.
She's the young woman who survived the shooting in a Portland park back in 2012 that killed Mollie Olgin.
She and her family are relying on donations for travel expenses and medical bills since they are having to pay for her new therapy is out of pocket. She has received help from the Crime Victim's Assistance Program, but that program doesn't cover the type of treatment Chapa is receiving now.
If you'd like to help her out, a fundraiser will be held for her Sunday at the O'Reilly Auto Parts in Sinton from 11am to 4pm.
If you can't make it out to the fundraiser, you can still help by donating online. Chapa has a Go Fund Me account and their goal is to raise $40,000.
