CORPUS CHRISTI -- Several people turned out for a bake sale to benefit a Corpus Christi boy who was injured in a hit-and-run accident last month.
People held a bake sale outside Shoe Carnival on S.P.I.D. All proceeds from the sale will go to Christian Carrillo's family to help with mounting medical expenses.
Carrillo, 17, was struck on Ayers Street Mar. 3 as he walked home from work. Family members said Carrillo will continue his recovery at an Austin rehabilitation facility when he is released from the hospital.
Carrillo, who suffered from brain swelling and had a stroke after the accident, is improving slowly. He is now able to communicate with family members.
