JAPAN - Residents of an area just 12 miles from the Fukushima nuclear plant were allowed to return home today.
The area has been off-limits for most residents since March 2011.
That's when the Government ordered evacuations due to the crisis at the Fukushima Daichi facility sparked by a devastating earthquake and tsunami.
Today's return is a milestone for the 357 registered residents of the district.
More than 160,000 people were forced to evacuate from towns near the Fukushima plant.
Around a third of them are still living in temporary housing.
